Eddie's Life

Created by Dean 16 years ago
Eddie had a very wide range of interests and loved a new challenge. His hobbies over the years included things such as water colour painting, playing in the South Milford brass band, going to the theatre, crown green bowling, wine making, magic tricks and telling stories of times gone by. He was a very keen family man, and thought the world of his grandchildren & great grandchildren. His main past time was tinkering about on his computer. He got his first computer in February 2000 and became hooked. Since then, he bought many new gadgets and outgrew his first computer in only 12 months when he purchased a newer model. By the time he fell ill, he was on his third computer system and had created many many documents on such a wide range of topics from local history to celebrities of the past. He was born in Aberford, and moved to Monk Fryston at a very young age. He had 2 brothers and one sister. When he first moved to the village his family moved in to a house on School View, Water Lane. His sister still lives in the family house today. Eddie however moved out when he met Flo to a small cottage at the far end of the village. He had many stories to tell of this cottage, of creepy crawlies in the front room to the state of the plumbing! However, the council started work on a new housing estate at the time called Mill Close. Eddie was the proud owner of number 25 Mill Close as soon as it was completed in 1953. Eddie, Flo and Carol his daughter received the key during a ceremony by the council and everyone was invited to come and look round the brand new house! From this point on, Eddie lived on Mill Close. He moved from number 25 to an upstairs flat with Flo and left Carol in number 25 to raise her own family. Flo & Eddie then moved to a downstairs flat, number 42a when the stairs began to get too much for them. When Flo passed away in 1993 Eddie continued to live in the flat, and did so until he also passed away.
